Learning Boxing and Coiling Slightly This 3 disc series presents the theory of Taijiquan. This series contains detailed explanations of all aspects of the practice of Taijiquan. This information has not been previously available in one single location, and these discs provide the viewer with clear verbal and visual examples that illuminate the previously difficult to understand theories of the ancestors. The viewer is instructed in the most important tenet of Taijiquan, that of dantian movement and its relationship to correct practice of Taijiquan. In the first disc, Chen Xiaowang presents the movement rule of core alignment and proper movement, and the relationship of the dantian to the whole body. He teaches the 3 directions of dantian movement that are fundamental to all movements in the forms. He also teaches standing practice, demonstrating the correct posture on his son, Chen Jun. He explains the concept of relaxation and its importance to the practice of Taijiquan. He explains the purpose of the circling exercise that closes the standing practice. This DVD finishes with a demonstration of the silk reeling exercises. Chen Xiaowang has his son go perform each exercise while he provides corrections and explanations of each posture. |

Posture 19 Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang developed the 19 Form as a tool to carry forward and introduce the world to Chen Style Taijiquan. Posture 38 This 2 disc DVD series presents the 38 Movement Form of Chen Family Taijiquan. The 38 form was created by Chen Xiaowang, based on the Old Frame first set and New Frame first set, intended as a simplified method to introduce students to the complexities of Chen Taijiquan. As such, the well designed set has all the component principals of Taijiquan and is useful and pleasurable form for both beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. Laojia was created by the 14th Generation master Chen Changxing by combining five routines developed by Chen Wangting. Punch in New Frame This 3 disc set showcases the breathtaking Xinjia Paochui, or New Frame Cannon Fist form. This form, perhaps the most complex form of the Chen Family system, combines speed and strength to create a form that includes stomping, punching, kicking, jumping, and other lightening fast displays of skill. Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang cautions the viewer that this form should be learned only after one has a strong foundation in the Xinjia Yi Lu, or New Frame First Form. Considered one of the oldest weapons, it has been practiced for hundreds of years in the Chen Village and beyond. Composed of 35 postures, this dynamic form utilizes many types of strikes, thrusts, overhead movements, jumps and kicks to integrate the hardness and softness that is characteristic of Chen style Taijiquan.
